We’ve heard the standard advice for Wedding day beauty, “keep it natural”, keep it simple, and glowing skin is the key. How about some practical, nonsense free advice you actually need for a flawless wedding day look? Here’s advice from our makeup artists, who specialize in creating the most amazing flawless wedding day looks at Couture Bridal Beauty. Check out all you need to know about products to keep on hand, fuss-free prep and fixes for any unexpected disasters.
Avoid any special skin care routines the night before your Wedding
While you might get tempted to treat your face to new, high-end skin products the night before your wedding day, we recommend staying with your already established daily facial cleansing regime. Using any new products might contain new ingredients your skin isn’t already accustomed to, which could potentially lead to irritation, breakout or worst case an allergic reaction. Hives, blotches, rashes and redness aren’t thing you want to wake up to on the morning of your wedding. Use the cleanser you typically use followed by a gentle night cream for moisturizing.
Be friendly with cortisone and keep it close!
If the unthinkable happens and you get a spot, irritation or any kind of skin allergy such as hives leading up to your wedding day avoid touching it with your hands! Any bacteria on your hands will only make it worse. Your best bet for a quick-fix is to visit a dermatologist, who can provide you with a cortisone injection.
If seeing a dermatologist is out of the question, apply a topical prescription of cortisone. Worst case scenario over the counter cortisone might help. Keep in mind, an allergic reaction usually presents itself first on the skin.
You don’t have to go “natural”, but do avoid trendy Makeup Styles
If bright red lips are your signature look, don’t be scared to use it. Just keep in mind the bolder the look, the more maintenance required to keep it, and avoid makeup trends that will be outlived by wedding photos. If you choose to wear bold lipstick, make sure to properly prepare your lips. Exfoliate lips with a gentle sugar scrub, hydrate with balm, then prime with a lip liner all over before applying a matching colour. Choose a long-lasting lipstick or stain and blot lips through a sheet of tissue for a matte finish.
Build your makeup arsenal
Keep your makeup and skin care products in a see-through bag for ease. You’ll want to keep a compact mirror, lipstick, gloss or stain (since lipsticks are the first to wear off), blotting papers to absorb oil, finishing powder, individually-wrapped Q-tips dipped in cleanser (for gently removing any smudges without ruining your make-up), a small grooming brush for our eyebrows, a make-up application sponge with a little foundation, concealer, and eye drops to get rid of any unexpected redness in your eyes.
Keep cleansing wipes on hand
If you’re worried about getting any stains on your dress, stylists and makeup artists keep makeup removing cleansing wipes handy to remove any cosmetics from garments.
